My name is Ashley Nguyen, and I’m a research coordinator at UC Berkeley working on doula-related projects. I was a 2020-2021 fellow with the O’Brien Fellowship in Public Service Journalism at Marquette University, where I focused on Medicaid coverage of doula services.
I earned a Master of Public Health at the University of Washington in Seattle. Before grad school, I was a multiplatform editor at The Washington Post. At The Post, I collaborated with a team of designers and editors to launch The Lily, a publication that elevates women’s voices. A former Peace Corps volunteer in Kyrgyzstan, I have plenty of experience getting lost, stumbling through conversations in Russian and politely refusing mutton and vodka.
